Among the multiple financial aids that the state offers us, there is a very interesting one forlarge families andpeople with disabilities. This is what is commonly known as family check, which consists of a supplement of €1,200 per year for all those who request it, as long as they meet the requirements. Knowing who has the right to ask for help is vitally important to getting help.
Who can request the family check?
There are three assumptions, and people who meet one of them will be able to benefit from the aid, but we must bear in mind that we must claim its award in all cases.
- Large families: Families with more than two dependent children can apply for aid, and those who are part of the special category can obtain a larger amount, that is, those with five children. or more, or those who have only four but enjoy very little income.
- Disabled descendants: All families with a disabled child also benefit from the family check, regardless of the number of children they have and their family category.
- Disabled ascendants: Any family or person with a disabled person in their care has the right to receive the help stipulated for these cases.
If you are part of any of these cases, you can access the help of the family check, but first, you must decide how you want to receive it. The state offers the possibility of obtaining an advance and collecting it monthly.
Can I request advance payment?
Only taxpayers entitled to the application of minimums due to having a disabled person in their care and ascendants or siblings, orphans of father and mother, who are part of a large family, can request advance payment.
Those who do not meet these requirements cannot request advance payment, and to get the family check , they must request help through their income tax return. Even though we have the right to request advance payment, there are some requirements that we must meet before the advance payment can be approved.
Requirements to request advance payment
Despite having the right to advance payment, there are three documentation requirements that we must meet to access the advance payment of the family check, and we must comply with all of them to collect the advance payment.
- Official status: Have the large family title or the official certification of the degree of disability of the person in our care.
- Tax Identification Number: All applicants for the advance must have their NIF since the lack of it will invalidate the request for advance payment.
- Social Security: To access the aid, whoever requests the advance payment must carry out an activity and be registered with Social Security.
All aid offered by the state must always be requested within the deadline, so at this point, we only need to know when and the type of application we will present.
Deadlines to request advance payment
There are two ways to present it, and either is valid, but they have different deadlines, so we will choose the one that best suits us.
- Starting January 7: It can be done electronically, using form 143, for each of the deductions to which you are entitled. It can also be done by phone, calling the number 901200345 and indicating the amount in box 415 of the personal income tax return.
- As of February 3: In any Tax Agency office, using the form available on its website, which must be correctly completed and signed by all applicants.
Finally, it is interesting to know that they offer us two types of family check requests to be able to process the payment method that interests us most.
Types of family check collection
It must be taken into account that any of the options they offer us does not imply a difference in the total to be received, so it will only be a matter of choosing the payment method that
- Collective: It is submitted by all applicants at the same time, but the payment will be made by bank transfer to whoever we have listed as the first applicant.
- Individual: The amount will be divided by the number of applicants, paying each of them the corresponding part.
Now that we have all the information to get the family check, we need to use it properly and thus access the help that corresponds to us.
